Experience a Summer of Joy: Angel Camp at Rockwall YMCA
Every summer, the J.E.R. Chilton YMCA at Rockwall transforms the camp experience for children with special needs through its free Angel Camp program—and Kiwanis is proud to advertise the program.
A Unique, Supportive Camp Experience
Angel Camp is designed for children ages 8–18 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This innovative program offers a full day camp experience where campers enjoy typical activities such as archery, riflery (BBs), arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing, group games, field trips, and more.
Camp Details & What to Expect
- When: Six one-week sessions in June and July
- Hours: 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Group Size: Limited to 20 campers per session to maintain a 1:5 counselor-to-camper ratio
- Eligibility: Campers should be able to dress themselves with minimal assistance and use the restroom independently
- Meals: Campers bring their own lunches; one afternoon snack is provided after swimming
Each week is thoughtfully planned to offer modifications where needed, ensuring that every camper can participate comfortably in all activities.
