The Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County is proud to manage the Food for Kids program dedicated to helping local children who face food insecurity on weekends when school meals are unavailable. After learning that many students in Rockwall ISD relied on free and reduced-price school meals as their primary source of nutrition, our club recognized a need to help bridge the gap. What began as a simple service project has grown into one of our most impactful community programs.

Today, Kiwanis members and volunteers pack and distribute more than 1,000 weekend meal bags each month during the school year. Each bag contains kid-friendly, nutritious food items that are easy to prepare and help ensure students have access to meals when they are away from school.
The program currently serves students at several Rockwall ISD campuses, including:
- Rochell Elementary
- Reinhardt Elementary
- Dobbs Elementary
- Springer Elementary
- Cullins-Lake Pointe Elementary
- Jones Elementary
Students are identified by teachers, counselors, and school staff who are familiar with their circumstances and can discreetly connect them with assistance. During the school year, Kiwanis members and community volunteers gather each month to pack meal bags for distribution. Food is purchased through donations, grants, and fundraising efforts, then sorted, packed, and delivered to participating schools.
As the need continues to grow and food costs continue to rise, community support is more important than ever. We welcome volunteers, food donations, and financial contributions to help us reach even more children in need.
