Love on a Leash Visits Rockwall Kiwanis
Today we had the pleasure of a visit by Love On A Leash?s representative Donna Stottlemyer of Royce City and her friend BreeAnna.
BreeAnna is an Irish Wolfhound trained as a therapy dog. She is the epitome of a ?gentle giant?. She has the most soulful eyes and gentle, loving demeanor and LOVES attention.
Love On A Leash is a registered non-profit, entirely volunteer organization training dogs of various breeds and their owners for therapy services. Their primary service is to?brighten the day of others in nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and libraries providing emotional support.
One surprising specialty is helping children to read! Experience has shown that children who are shy or may normally struggle reading aloud, improve their reading skills due to lessened stress by reading to the dogs.
The Rockwall County Library has hosted this event before and soon other area libraries may follow.
If you would like to learn more about Love On A Leash or how you might even become a volunteer, check out their website at?www.loveonaleash.org.
Thank you so much for visiting us today Donna and BreeAnna!

Rockwall 4H Club Addresses Rockwall Kiwanis
“A Special thanks to goes out to Todd Williams who came and spoke with us representing the Rockwall 4-H Club! So many exciting programs and skills for children and youth. There is so much more to 4-H than just agriculture. Mom, Dad, you don’t have to have a cow (ha ha!) to get the kids learning the many life skills 4-H teaches. Open to boys and girls from K-12. ?See flyer for their upcoming 2015 kick-off event September 8th.”
