We were honored to have local artist Betty Jean Hoaglund with the Uptown Downtown Gallery in downtown Rockwall come speak to us Tuesday. She with a team of other local artists opened the gallery in April complimenting the newly renovated downtown area nicely among the fine dining, shopping, and entertainment. These artists vision is to make downtown Rockwall a go-to destination for the arts. Betty spoke to the master plan for art in public places which would include not just the square but all of the downtown area. The goal would to make art family friendly and consider displaying old maps, photos with explanations of old buildings, fun sculptures with metal, and perhaps unique benches.
